The tender for the construction trade VE2 includes the essential civil engineering, special civil engineering and building works for the new construction of the bus canopy on the Benrath depot. The advance works include the creation of the new hydrant ring main system including firewater wells, the new drainage system with retention basin and swale, the laying of empty conduits and supply lines, and the creation of the bored pile foundation. The bored piles will be largely created before the start of the building works. The pile heads and caisson foundations will follow in the respective construction sections. Until then, the affected areas will be temporarily filled, compacted and asphalted so that they can continue to be used by buses and as parking spaces. The hydrant system with firewater wells is to be put into operation early to ensure fire protection during the construction period. The bus canopy will then be erected in three consecutive building sections. The middle construction section comprises the technical floor with two redundantly designed and fire-protection-separated technical areas. The southern construction section will house the wash hall, a cleaning pit, and a basement for the wastewater treatment plant. The northern construction section includes the remaining bus canopy as well as the final traffic areas, outdoor facilities, and open spaces. The roof structure consists predominantly of glued laminated timber beams and plywood elements. In the area of the technical floor and the wash lane, reinforced concrete structures are planned. The roof surfaces will be designed as a green retention roof with a photovoltaic system and drained via the new swale. The measure will be implemented, partially accepted and put into operation in sections, so that the ongoing bus operation and the required parking spaces can be maintained as far as possible throughout the entire construction period.
