Germany – Architectural services for outdoor areas – Freiraumplanerischer Realisierungswettbewerb mit Ideenteil "Grüner Boulevard, Bad Mergentheim"

Stadtverwaltung Bad MergentheimGermanyPublished on May 31, 2026
No deadline given

Description

The objective of the urban planning competition is to redesign and reallocate the Igersheimer Straße and Würzburger Straße, transform them into a green axis with pedestrian and cycle paths, and facilitate crossing the carriageway. Motorised and non-motorised traffic should be rezoned according to the functions of an intra-urban municipal road, and the street space should be meaningfully enhanced. A design concept should be developed that harmonises aspects of mobility with measures for heat adaptation, water sensitivity, and biodiversity, and finds a sensible approach to the specific requirements of the location. The Kapuzinerplatz is to be spatially and design-wise redefined. The planned redesign should combine urban development enhancement and mobility with long-term added value for the urban landscape and quality of life.

With the idea part, which is spatially adjacent to the realisation part, another focus of the work is to make Bad Mergentheim's city history tangible: the former historical city fortifications. A pedestrian connection from the Green Boulevard to the lower-lying Türkengasse leading to the historical city wall remains is to be provided. Furthermore, planning proposals for the redesign of the associated green space are to be developed.

The subject of the competition are services according to HOAI for the conception of the redesign of the Igersheimer Straße and Würzburger Straße in Bad Mergentheim.

The competition is announced as a single-phase, non-open urban planning realisation competition according to RPW with an idea part and a preceding selection procedure, with 20 participants. The issuer will pre-select 6 participants from these. The procedure is anonymous.

Eligible to participate are landscape architects, optionally in teams with urban planners. Landscape architects are the authors of the competition work. Urban planners are optional. Traffic planners can and should be consulted for advice. They are not eligible to participate on their own and are not authors of the competition work.
