Redevelopment and Expansion of the Westpfalz-Klinikum in Kirchheimbolanden

The Westpfalz-Klinikum is located on the western outskirts of Kirchheimbolanden and consists of several building sections of different ages. The oldest part of the complex is the Bettenhaus 5 and the treatment building (outpatient clinics + operating theatre) to the north, dating from the mid-1950s. In the 1990s, extensions were added to the operating theatre department, the entrance area with a cafeteria/ staff canteen and the intensive care unit. From 2000 onwards, additions were made to the delivery room, followed by the outpatient operating theatre centre and the new senior physician's area in 2011. As the final component, a 4-storey MVZ was built directly adjacent to the emergency department. To the south, east and north, there are residential areas, while to the west, there is no immediate development, but green meadows and fields that lead uphill to forested areas. As part of the planned measure, the hospital will receive a new building on the eastern side of the clinic, as well as an extension in a north-eastern building section.
