The property is located in a residential area in the northern part of Kaufbeuren. A secondary school with a sports field to the west adjoins the building site. To the south, the property borders a church; otherwise, access roads run directly along the property's boundaries. The construction site is directly accessible from Marktgrafenstraße via a construction road. Upon completion of the new building in the first construction phase, the second construction phase involves the energy-efficient renovation of the existing building. The work on various components mainly involves the refurbishment of the external envelope surfaces and the renovation of the classrooms in the interior. Furthermore, the building services are being overhauled, as the heating system is being converted to regenerative energy sources and, in conjunction with the adjacent gymnasium, is being completely renewed, and the classrooms are being equipped with mechanical ventilation. At the end of the work, the courtyard area will be redesigned as a playground and the temporary access roads will be dismantled.
