This contract concerns the development, supply, and installation of a research-oriented wind generation system for the Coastal & Ocean Basin Oostende. The Coastal & Ocean Basin (COB) is located in the Maritime Research Centre of the Flemish Government in Oostende (UGent Ostend Science Park). It is designed to study the effect of waves and currents on coastal engineering structures and offshore/floating installations, such as the new energy island in the North Sea or nature-based solutions for erosion protection around the foundation of offshore wind turbines. The hydrodynamic and structural behaviour of new technologies for offshore renewable energy generation is also investigated here (e.g. wave energy converters, floating solar panels at sea, floating wind turbines). The Coastal & Ocean Basin welcomes users from industry, academia and government institutions.
