On the territory of the city of Sliven, a large part of the sidewalk trees are of the 1st and 2nd magnitude, aged between 50 and 80 years. Their crowns reach a height of up to 35 meters and a width of over 10 meters. Their surface roots deform the sidewalk paving, which is impassable in places. These are mainly the tree species – Plane, Lime, and Sophora. These tree species, located near the facades of buildings, require annual pruning to reduce the crown. In certain places, where such sidewalk trees restrict free pedestrian passage, as well as the safety of the building stock and infrastructure, they should be removed and uprooted. "Greening and GP" OP, which maintains the elements of the green system of the city of Sliven, does not have the resources to carry out pruning of the crowns of very tall trees, as well as their uprooting or pruning of their surface roots.
