Germany – Laboratory furniture – V456_2026 - HiPOLE - Laborausstattung inkl. Planung (Lab2Fab)
Description
As one of 18 centres of the Helmholtz Association, the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie (HZB) employs around 1,400 staff at the locations Berlin-Wannsee and Berlin-Adlershof – and has a total budget of approximately 110 million Euro. The HZB works closely with the universities and universities of applied sciences in Berlin-Brandenburg. The HZB researches solutions for a climate-neutral society. Researchers develop and optimise efficient and cost-effective materials for solar cells, batteries and catalysts. These energy materials are essential building blocks on the way to a CO2-neutral and secure energy supply. The most important tool is the X-ray source BESSY II, which provides intense light in the soft X-ray range. This is used to investigate the structure of energy and quantum materials and their mode of operation. The HZB also researches new concepts for accelerator-based X-ray sources and develops new instruments with ever higher measurement accuracies. In 2023, the HZB and the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena founded the Helmholtz-Institut für Polymere in Energieanwendungen (HIPOLE) in Jena as a permanent establishment of the HZB. Leading expertise in the fields of energy storage and photovoltaics, polymeric materials, artificial intelligence and sustainable chemistry have thus been bundled to advance the accelerated knowledge-based research of sustainable polymeric materials for scalable energy technologies. HIPOLE Jena is based on three research pillars: • Material design and synthesis • Scalability, prototypes and transfer as well as • Characterisation, theory, modelling and data science. The focus is not only on basic research, but also on the transfer of research results. Currently, around 50 employees are working at HIPOLE Jena. The research work of the scientists at HIPOLE Jena, supported by seven associate members of the FSU Jena and the HZB, can be assigned to five research areas: 1. Polymer redox flow batteries, 2. Polymer-based thin-film batteries, 3. Photovoltaics, 4. Functional self-healing materials and 5. Sustainable chemistry. The Helmholtz-Institut für Polymere in Energieanwendungen Jena (HIPOLE Jena) intends to procure laboratory equipment incl. planning (Lab2Fab). Three laboratory rooms with laboratory furniture are to be equipped in ready-to-occupy laboratory areas in the Lab2Fab in Jena.
