The Hamburg Tourismus GmbH (HHT) intends to establish a modern middleware architecture as part of a Europe-wide procurement procedure to enhance its digital sales infrastructure. The aim is to technologically modernise the existing system landscape, increase the flexibility and scalability of the sales systems, and lay the foundation for future digital innovations in tourism sales. The middleware will serve as a central integration and orchestration layer between existing booking systems, sales channels (e.g. website, app) and other internal and external systems. It enables a gradual decoupling of the sales channels from existing backend systems and creates a flexible basis for the integration of new systems and functions. In addition to the middleware, the project also includes the development and implementation of a new digital booking process, which is particularly focused on improving the user experience and increasing the conversion rate. The project will be implemented in several phases. Initially, a technical and functional specification will be created in the form of a functional concept and a statement of requirements. Based on this, a productive basic version of the middleware and the booking process will be implemented. Subsequently, operation, maintenance and iterative, agile further development of the system architecture are planned. With this project, the HHT aims to further strengthen its role as a tourism provider with its own sales and to sustainably secure its competitiveness in a dynamic market environment.
