Netherlands – Roundabout construction work – Bouwteam Reconstructie Kruising N9 - Kogendijk - Helderseweg, te Alkmaar

The intersection of Kogendijk with the N9, in Alkmaar, is unsafe due to the level crossing of fast traffic with slow traffic, regulated by a traffic signal system. The current intersection causes unsafe situations and a slow processing of traffic. An adjustment of the intersection is necessary to make the situation safer and to improve the flow. The project involves a reconstruction of the current level intersection with VRI to a turbo roundabout with a bicycle and pedestrian tunnel. The area is located on the outskirts of Alkmaar on the border between the municipality of Bergen and the municipality of Alkmaar. Stadswerk072 is managing the tender on behalf of the municipality of Alkmaar and in cooperation with Rijkswaterstaat, Province of Noord-Holland and the municipality of Bergen. The municipality of Alkmaar intends to conclude a Design and Construct Contract via this restricted procedure to further design the intersection and its surroundings with the contractor, and to realise the execution based on UAV-gc.
