The Hauptmann-Haus as well as the other buildings are in permanent use, so that a significant backlog of renovation (with the exception of the Literature Pavilion) has since arisen. There is also a need for spatial adaptation in the areas of residential use and administration. In addition to the comprehensive renovation of the building envelope and internal structure, the area of the current crawl space is to be expanded to a full basement. In this context, the previously inadequate foundation of the building will also be upgraded. The building services must be completely renewed. Generally, the museum areas of the interior must be renovated extremely carefully and with minimally invasive methods in order not to destroy valuable original surfaces. The building materials removed during the renovation of the exterior envelope are to be reused (roof tiles, base clinker, windows, etc.).
