Description

As part of the planned inter-municipal cooperation with the Verbandsgemeinden Puderbach and Hachenburg, a significant increase in water demand is expected in the area of the Amteroth pumping station. To ensure a sustainable, high-performance and operationally reliable drinking water supply within the future combined structure, extensive infrastructural adaptations are required. A key component of the project is the expansion of the existing water main between the Seelbach pumping station and the Hümmerich reservoir (Measure 3a). The existing DN 200 (GGG) pipe is not hydraulically dimensioned to meet the required future flow rates. Furthermore, due to its age, the existing pipe has a high need for renewal, so that, independently of the capacity expansion, a medium-term renovation or replacement will be necessary. Therefore, the construction of a new approximately 2.3 to 2.5 km long DN 300 (GGG) pipeline is planned. This measure will significantly improve hydraulic performance and, at the same time, increase the long-term operational reliability of the supply infrastructure. In addition, to ensure future water supply, the expansion of the existing intake pipe between the Michelbach direct transfer and the Amteroth pumping station (Measure 4a) is planned. The existing DN 150 (GGG) pipe is hydraulically undersized and not designed to meet the required future delivery rates. Additionally, there is a topographically caused high point immediately before the Amteroth pumping station, which negatively affects the hydraulic conditions. Therefore, the construction of a new intake pipe in DN 300 (GGG) is planned to optimise the overall system. With the implementation of this measure, the hydraulic performance of the supply system will be sustainably improved and the critical high point effectively mitigated. The planned measures serve to ensure, in the long term, a future-proof, high-performance and reliable drinking water supply as part of inter-municipal cooperation.
