The Lippeverband has been operating a sewage treatment plant in Bad Sassendorf since 1990, with a capacity for 13,000 population equivalents (PE). The Lippeverband intends to carry out comprehensive reinvestment measures at the Bad Sassendorf sewage treatment plant. Both the structural substance and the mechanical, process and electrical equipment show significant signs of aging, have reached the end of their useful life or have already exceeded it. As part of the planned renovations, the current process (nutrient removal, sludge treatment) is also to be optimized to ensure that future requirements for wastewater treatment can be met.
