Switzerland – Architectural, construction, engineering and inspection services – Kantonsschulen Freudenberg und Enge mit Liceo Artistico und Schöllergut | Gesamtinstandsetzung

The Canton of Zurich intends to adapt the Kantonsschulen Freudenberg and Enge and the Schöllergut with the Liceo Artistico for a modern school operation, to renovate them in a resource-efficient manner and to maintain them in accordance with monument protection. To this end, the Building Department of the Canton of Zurich, represented by the Building Department, on behalf of the Property Office and the Education Department, is organizing a tender for the award of the general planning service (design, tendering and realization) for the overall renovation of the Kantonsschulen Freudenberg and Enge with Liceo Artistico as a branch of the Kantonsschule Freudenberg and the Schöllergut in 8002 Zurich as well as for a service contract for the preparation of a feasibility study as a basis for planning, which is to be carried out prior to the overall renovation. A general planning team is sought, consisting of specialists in planning services in the fields of: architecture (leadership), construction management, civil engineering, building services (HVAC), landscape architecture, building physics/acoustics, specialist coordination, GA/MSRL engineering and fire protection planning with experience in the implementation of large and complex overall renovation projects in the field of listed buildings, preferably of educational buildings or similarly complex uses. The general planning must have a high level of organizational, architectural, technical and monument preservation competence and plan and implement the design and execution of the construction project in a sustainable, cost- and quality-conscious and timely manner. The coordination of the design with the pedagogical and organizational needs of the schools is of paramount importance. The careful use of raw materials, materials and goods while complying with cantonal regulations is a prerequisite. The application for participation must be made in accordance with the details in the tender documents. The selection of a maximum of five participating bidders will be based on the eligibility criteria set out in the tender documents. The offer to be submitted by the selected general planning teams includes the solution of two object-related tasks as well as an offer for the applicable fee parameters. The submission of an application for pre-qualification (1st phase) will not be compensated. All complete and timely offers submitted to the Building Department (2nd phase) will be compensated with a flat rate of CHF 8,000.00 (incl. VAT) per submission. Construction Task The overall renovation comprises the two sites Freudenberg and Enge (incl. Notary's building) as well as the Schöllergut with the Liceo Artistico. The Kantonsschule Freudenberg together with the Liceo Artistico and the Kantonsschule Enge form one of the largest schools in the Canton of Zurich. This facility is of particular importance for the school space requirements of the left bank of Lake Zurich. The following profiles are offered by the schools. The Kantonsschule Freudenberg offers a long and a short gymnasium with a linguistic and a mathematical-natural science profile. The Kantonsschule Enge offers three gymnasial educational paths with an economic-legal profile, a modern languages profile, the profile Philosophy, Pedagogy and Psychology (PPP) as well as the vocational-oriented commercial secondary school with an EFZ and a BM. The Liceo Artistico, as a Swiss-Italian art gymnasium, is the only public gymnasium for fine arts in the Canton of Zurich. The school complex Freudenberg Enge was built by the architect Jacques Schader from 1957 to 1961 and consists of the two classroom buildings Kantonsschule Enge and Kantonsschule Freudenberg. The entire complex is considered a outstanding example of 1960s architecture in Switzerland with international appeal. In the 1970s and 1980s, the schools were expanded by the acquisition of the Schöllergut and the Villa "Dem Schönen", today's Liceo Artistico, on Parkring. The buildings located there since the 19th century are located in an extensive park with further ancillary buildings and bear witness to the upper-class life in the city of Zurich. The Notary's building at Bederstrasse 28 is to be used as a school space in the future. Now it is a matter of carefully renovating the buildings according to monument preservation principles, implementing the requirements of today's school operation and renovating the buildings for a further life cycle.
