Germany – Astronomical and optical instruments – Stadt Cottbus - OV 163-2026 Modernisierung der Ganzkuppelprojektoren im Planetarium Cottbus

The Cottbus Planetarium is the largest in the state of Brandenburg and has made a significant contribution to the dissemination of astronomy and natural science to the entire population for more than 50 years. However, in the last 12 years, it has also developed into a special cultural experience. Worldwide, immersive art takes an important place in the domes of planetariums. The immersive presentation of nature and the universe in planetariums is part of the intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO: "Planetariums preserve and pass on specific knowledge and skills for the representation of the universe and beyond from generation to generation. The method of knowledge transfer, which is based on immersion and the interactive participation of visitors, is unique. Planetariums are places of learning that promote understanding and appreciation of the cosmos and our own planet."
