The Euregio Maas-Rhein (EMR) represents a dynamic and at the same time heterogeneous economic region. It is characterised by a high industrial density, a strong SME sector, innovative research landscapes and a central geographical location in the tri-border area of Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. At the same time, the EMR - like the whole of Europe - faces the central challenge of fundamentally converting its energy supply to climate-neutral, resilient and affordable energy systems. The energy carrier hydrogen plays an important role in this context. Hydrogen is considered a central building block for the decarbonisation of energy-intensive industries and the integration of renewable energies into industrial processes. It offers considerable potential along the value chain to increase energy efficiency, reduce CO2 emissions and secure competitiveness in the EMR. Against this background, the Interreg project "EMR H2-HUBs" has been initiated. The advertised service falls under Work Package 2 of the project. The initiative pursues a practice-oriented, cross-border approach to bring together companies, public institutions and project partners in the EMR in a coordinated process.
