Wastewater treatment plant (ABA) for DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung GmbH's Dessau site

The DB FZI Dessau site operated an ultrafiltration plant for treating washing and rinsing wastewater from various washing and cleaning systems for electric traction vehicles and their components until 2023. Due to the age-related condition of the plant, it was taken out of service. The wastewater contains contaminants typical of railway operations. These are mainly solid particles from external attachments to locomotives, as well as oils and fats, as encountered when washing roller bearings and gear parts. In addition, there are spent detergent residues and still reactive components. The weekly volume of wastewater generated is approximately 50 m³. The new plant is to be installed within the workshop hall in the area of the former water treatment system. Delivery, commissioning, trial operation and final acceptance shall be completed by 30.06.2027.
