The Land Sports Association for the Saarland (LSVS) is the umbrella organisation for sport in the Saarland, currently comprising 1,938 sports clubs and 52 specialist sports associations. With approximately 370,000 members, the LSVS is the largest association of individuals in the Saarland. It is one of 16 state sports associations in Germany affiliated with the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB). The LSVS is a legal entity under public law based in Saarbrücken. Its tasks are set out in the statute under § 2 "Purpose, Principles and Tasks". The tasks of the LSVS include, in particular, the "provision of insurance cover for its ordinary members and their affiliated clubs by concluding a sports insurance contract binding on all ordinary members". This tender covers the compulsory sports insurance contract of the LSVS (including the described services) for the benefit of its member organisations, their clubs and members affiliated with them, as well as the LSVS itself. Ensuring this insurance cover is a statutory task and an essential service for the organised sport in the Saarland; it is of high importance - and accordingly, the requirements for the insurer are set. The tender is made following a risk analysis and assessment to renegotiate the insured benefits and conditions. In this respect, the sports insurance contract now being tendered includes changes in its compulsory scope compared to the previous sports insurance contract.
