Project description: The paddling pool in the open-air swimming pool at Bolzberg in the district of Gadenstedt is located in the southern area of the open-air swimming pool grounds. The pool has a square shape and is approximately 90 m² in size. It has a uniform depth throughout the entire area. The pool surround is paved and has had to be regularly levelled due to the settling of the paving stones. The pool and the pool surround are in need of renovation. To date, there is no separation of the water circuits between the paddling pool and the rest of the pool. This means that separate temperature controls and targeted chlorination of the paddling pool are not possible. Furthermore, the existing pool hydraulics no longer meet current requirements. The paddling pool no longer meets today's structural standards and does not have child-friendly equipment. The existing paddling pool is to be dismantled and rebuilt in a modified form so that a child-friendly and visually appealing pool shape is created. The exact location of the pool will be determined as part of the construction planning. If a building permit is required for the construction, this will be applied for in good time by the contractor. A surrounding wave water channel and a stainless steel lining will be installed. The new total water surface area will be approximately 85 m². Previous investigations: The paddling pool is to be divided into two pools, which are connected to each other by a ramp in the water. One pool has a water depth of 0.4 m to 0.5 m and the other pool has a water depth of 0.1 m to 0.3 m. The two different water depth areas result in a separation of the children according to age groups, so that the smallest children can play and bathe separately from the larger ones. To increase attractiveness, the paddling pool will be supplemented by various attractions. For active use, a children's slide and a floor whirlpool installed in the pool will be available. The children's slide will be aligned to the north and will open into the deeper part of the pool. In addition, there is a water cannon on the pool island, which can be reached from both the pool and the pool surround. Here, the children can actively splash water and determine the spray direction by operating the water cannon. Furthermore, a water mushroom will be installed in the pool for passive use and a spray animal will be installed at the pool edge, which will provide additional fun and are tailored to the needs of toddlers and children. Around the paddling pool, a spacious pool surround will be created, which will be designed with light, colourful paving. This will provide an area for staying, which will be supplemented by shade-giving parasols and loungers. In addition, planting with climate-resilient perennials and grasses is planned around the pool surround to increase attractiveness and as a boundary.
