Description

The multipurpose hall in Kronau was built between 1965 and 1967 and has since fulfilled one of the most important functions for the municipality of Kronau. It is the hub of the clubs and the administration. It is used as a sports hall/school sports hall, for concerts, cultural events, as a polling station, etc. The term multipurpose hall is apt and does justice to the building due to its varied use. The hall is a steel-concrete construction, with solid masonry walls, spectator stands, a stage, sanitary facilities and a former gastronomy. After 60 years of intensive use, the hall is in a condition that requires extensive renovation. To get an idea of the structural and technical situation, the municipality commissioned a study in 2025 to determine the condition, a general renovation and the creation of a possible master plan for the further use of the property. The architecture firm mrma was awarded the contract and presented the corresponding results to the municipal council by January 2026. It is clear today that a costly, extensive renovation of the hall must be undertaken. The renovation is to be carried out with the following aspects in mind: 1. Core renovation of the multipurpose hall 2. Creation of additional training areas for sports clubs/school sports 3. Retention of the character of the overall complex 4. Development of a fire safety concept 5. Renovation of building services incl. ventilation 6. Consideration and possible restoration of the existing parking spaces in front of the hall 7. Consideration of the interests of the clubs, as far as covered by the funding requirements 8. Creation of one or more kitchens for events 9. Energy renovation taking into account and integrating the heating concept (district heating network) 10. Retention of the floor heating and further development of the heating concept 11. Load-bearing capacity of the roof for PV systems 12. Creation of a room that can be used for both sport and culture (see feasibility study) 13. Creation of barrier-free access 14. Further development/overhaul of the existing concept taking into account the funding programme: "Renovation of municipal sports facilities" and possibly further funding programmes 15. Consideration of a cost framework of 13.7 MIO EUR
