Description

For the route 1072 / St. Pölten Hbf. – Traisen, for the route 1071 / Traisen – Hainfeld and for the route 1511 / Traisen – Freiland, electrification and enhancement are planned. The measures can be found in the submission plan and affect the railway infrastructure between St. Pölten and Traisen, Traisen and Hainfeld, and Traisen and Freiland, and have the following main objectives:

Upgrade of existing routes: Along the existing route, general modernization measures (safety measures at level crossings, etc.) will be implemented to enable shorter travel times. To ensure efficient operation of passenger transport, the existing crossing options must be improved.

Electrification: The infrastructure expansion includes the electrification of the entire railway line between St. Pölten and Traisen, Traisen and Hainfeld, and Traisen and Schrambach. This step will lead to a CO2 reduction and thus make an important contribution to climate and environmental protection.

The following measures are planned for the project area:

New construction of the overhead line from St. Pölten to Traisen, new construction of the overhead line from Traisen to Schrambach, new construction of the overhead line from Traisen to Hainfeld, construction of a modern interlocking system with integration into the Vienna Operations Control Centre, new construction/ adaptation/ conversion of the existing EK facilities according to EisbKrV 2012, of the railway crossings or non-public level crossings, section-wise superstructure work on the route and at the stations, section-wise substructure work on the route and creation of a cable trench, section-wise renewal of ditch walls and culverts, section-wise renewal of retaining walls and slope stabilizations, adaptation of the stations and stops with partial renewal and extension of the existing platforms. The ggstl. procedure includes the necessary civil engineering work as part of the expansion, in particular steel, wood, metal, and glass construction as part of the expansion of the transport stations.
