On the campus of the Max-Planck-Institut (MPI) for Biochemistry in Martinsried, a new building for the new data centre of the Max Planck Computing and Data Facility (MPCDF) is to be constructed on the site of the existing car park, covering approximately 3,500m2. At the time of the award, the project will be at performance level 3. It should be noted that services from project stages 1 and 2 must be carried out, despite the advanced stage of the project, and should be reconciled with the existing documents to ensure a uniform and seamless project planning and execution. The project handover is scheduled for the first quarter of 2030. The Max Planck Computing and Data Facility (MPCDF, formerly RZG) is an interdisciplinary competence centre of the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft (MPG) to support computer and data science. In close collaboration with subject scientists from the Max-Planck-Institutes, the MPCDF is involved in the development and optimisation of algorithms and applications for high-performance computing and data analysis, as well as in the design and implementation of solutions for data-intensive projects.
