terranets bw is working together with other network operators on a cross-border transport network for hydrogen - the RHYn Interco project. By building the necessary hydrogen infrastructure, which to the greatest extent possible involves the conversion of existing gas pipelines, terranets bw will connect large consumers in Baden-Württemberg with hydrogen producers in the Grand Est region of France from 2031. The expansion of the hydrogen network to the Offenburg and Kehl area can be expected from 2035. In the first phase up to 2031, terranets bw, together with the French transmission system operator NaTran, will connect to the French gas network via a new, approximately 15-kilometre-long hydrogen pipeline. For this, the Rhine will be crossed between the Fessenheim area on the French side and the Bad Krozingen area on the German side. The new pipeline will be connected to an existing, approximately 20-kilometre-long gas pipeline operated by terranets bw in the Bad Krozingen area. This pipeline runs north to March-Buchheim, north of Freiburg, and can be converted to transport hydrogen.
