Denmark – Construction work – HVU - Hvidovre Udslusningsfængsel, Lysholmgård - nedrivning, nybyggeri og totalrenovering

The project involves the demolition and new construction of 3 wings and the complete renovation of 1 main building due to extensive dry rot detected in external walls, floors, and roof structures. The building covers approximately 1,940 m² (gross m²). The finished release prison will have a capacity of 30 inmates and, in addition to residential sections with rooms and living areas with occupational and leisure facilities, will accommodate a staff section with administrative facilities. _____Danish Prisons wishes to rebuild Hvidovre Release Prison ”Lysholmgård” with the aim of creating a new release prison that meets the requirements of Danish Prisons, and at the same time can ensure modern and contemporary frameworks around the inmates and staff. Some of the release places are arranged with accessibility measures to accommodate inmates with disabilities. The expansion of the existing Hvidovre Release Prison, Lysholmgård, to a total capacity of 30 places, is part of the initiative to establish four new release prisons, as stated in the Agreement on the Economy of the Criminal Justice System 2022-2025. The aim is to create the frameworks for more inmates, in the final stages of their sentence, to have the opportunity for a transition to a life without crime, under supervision and with support from Danish Prisons' staff.
