The City of Luckenwalde intends to carry out the heritage-compliant redesign of the open and traffic areas in the settlement "Auf dem Sande", a listed ensemble of a 1920s workers' settlement in the southwest of the city. The settlement is considered an outstanding example of reform housing and is oriented towards the ideal of the garden city. The aim of the project is to restore the historical character of the settlement while taking into account current usage requirements, particularly through the enhancement of public spaces, sustainable rainwater management and energy-efficient street lighting. The planning area is divided into three lots: Lot 1 comprises the forecourt and access to the former municipal baths, Lot 2 the central public spaces of the settlement including the street "Auf dem Sande" and the squares at the Torbogenhaus and L-Haus, Lot 3 the urban redevelopment of an area on the edge of the settlement. The total budget is 5.2 million euros gross. Implementation will be phased until approximately 2034.
