Germany – Research and development services and related consultancy services – [IRIS] Robuste Interaktion robotischer Systeme in heterogenen Schwärmen für den Einsatz in Krisen- und Katastrophensituationen

Heterogeneous robotic swarms can prospectively take over reconnaissance, protection, transport, support, and situation assessment in environments where humans cannot be deployed or can only be deployed at high risk. This is particularly important where (targeted) interference in the electromagnetic spectrum, GPS failures, or dynamic environments push classical systems to their limits. IRiS therefore addresses the question of how robust, self-organizing, and adaptive swarms can be developed that remain operational even under adverse conditions. The research program aims to identify and further develop approaches with which robotic systems can interact robustly in heterogeneous swarms – despite jammers, difficult environmental conditions, interrupted radio links, or impaired navigation signals. To this end, questions of robot-robot interaction as well as human-swarm interaction are considered.
