The procurement project consists of two lots: Lot 1 Merge Processing (20260108_LB-LV_3D-Seismic Merge Procesing_GIGA-M_V0.docx). Lot 2 Seismic Reservoir Characterization (SRC) (20260108_LB-LV_Seismische Reservoir Charakterisierung Giga-M_V0.docx). Since 2004, Stadtwerke München (SWM) has continuously developed and taken over ongoing geothermal projects to feed CO2-neutral geothermal heat into the Munich district heating network or to use it for power generation. The aim of the SWM district heating vision is to cover a large part of Munich's district heating demand through geothermal energy by 2040. The exploration of subsurface conditions is a crucial prerequisite for the sustainable development of further geothermal potentials. For this reason, SWM Services GmbH and further partners, as part of a joint research project with the abbreviation "GIGA-M", are carrying out a seismic measurement campaign for the re-exploration and extensive gap closure in the 3D seismic coverage in the Munich urban area and the immediate surrounding area. The planned measurement scope is approximately 1,073 km². The main objective of the seismic exploration is the approximately 500 – 600 m thick Upper Jurassic White Jurassic Group (syn. Malm), which is found in the working area at a depth between approximately 4,250 m in the south and approximately 1,400 m in the north below the ground surface. The aim is to create a large-scale reservoir model for the planning and implementation of the geothermal expansion in the region as well as the subsequent long-term reservoir management. This new dataset is to be merged and reprocessed based on the original field data with the field datasets of older surveys (Merge Processing, Prestack Depth Migration (PreSDM)) to obtain a uniform continuous dataset of approximately 1,600 km² over the entire GIGA-M area (Lot 1). If individual raw datasets cannot be procured in time and are then only available as Post-Stack data, they should be merged with the resulting dataset after the Prestack-Merge Processing (Poststack Merge). In addition, there is a further question within Lot 1 for the permit area Freiham. A 3D seismic survey from 2012 already exists for this area. This area will be measured again as part of the upcoming GIGA-M acquisition. A merge processing as such is therefore not necessary over this area. However, a targeted local re-processing should take place to prepare both datasets for a 4D analysis. The resulting datasets are to be used after the Merge Processing and Freiham Reprocessing (Lot 1) for further quantitative geophysical methods for reservoir characterization (SRC). These evaluations are part of the tasks of Lot 2 and consist of 2 parts: Part 1: SRC of the entire area of the merge Part 2: 4D investigation Freiham (SRC area Freiham) In Part 1, the dataset over the entire area of the merge is to be analyzed with modern quantitative geophysical state-of-the-art methods for the seismic characterization of the reservoir. For this purpose, primarily classical methods of pre- and post-stack inversion, AVO analysis, and attribute analysis should first be applied. Additionally, further optional methods such as seismic facies analysis, synthetic gather inversion, feature/geobody detection, forward modeling, analysis of diffractions in unfiltered raw stacks, and possibly new AI-based methods should be considered. In Part 2, the prepared and reprocessed Freiham 3D datasets of the old and new seismics from the years 2012 and 2026 are to be evaluated and compared with corresponding quantitative geophysical methods as part of a 4D analysis. This should make visible any possible changes in the reservoir since the start of production and injection in 2016. Both lots contain 2 tasks/parts: on the one hand, the work is to be carried out over the entire GIGA-M area (Part 1 in both lots, respectively), on the other hand, limited to the Freiham area (Part 2 in both lots, respectively).
