Germany – Harbour construction works – Aushub der Brücken-Seitenteile der Freihafenelbbrücke

The subject of this tender is the planned removal and storage of the northern and southern superstructures of the Freihafen-Elbbrücke by the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) on an assembly site at Auguste-Viktoria.Kai. The structure, built in 1926 and under monument protection, carries road traffic over the Norderelbe and, as part of the Elbbrücken family, opens up the part of Hamburg located south of the Elbe. The bridge consists of three individual, identical single-span girders (North – Centre – South) with a span of approximately 100 m each and a width of approximately 20.8 m. The weight of a superstructure is approximately 2,100 t of steel and approximately 1,200 t of superstructure loads. It is a truss arch bridge that was originally a combined road and railway bridge. Due to the condition of the structure and the static recalculation, only restricted use for traffic is possible and the end of the planned useful life has been reached. Due to a ship collision, the damaged middle superstructure will be removed earlier and is not the subject of this tender. The two superstructures North and South are to be removed as part of this tender, transported to an assembly site at Auguste-Viktoria-Kai and moved to the assembly area there by means of a special-purpose shifting track to be constructed for this purpose. The removal of the superstructures is planned for early 2028. The measure includes the following contents: a) Preparation of the assembly area at Auguste-Viktoria-Kai, b) Construction of a shifting track on water and on land founded on bored piles, c) Construction of the bearings founded on micropiles, d) Lightening of the superstructures by demolition of the superstructure loads e) Floating out of the superstructures North+South and the removal/storage on the assembly area. The further storage of the superstructures North and South for a period of approximately 10 years, the later repairs of the superstructures North and South, the new construction of the middle superstructure and the reinstallation of all superstructures are not the subject of this procurement.
