Switzerland – Construction work – Erneuerung Flussschwellen Vispa Kipfen

Since the storms in the summer of 2024, MGBahn has implemented various immediate measures in the riverbed of the Matter Vispa in the Kipfen area. After restoring navigability in the summer of 2024, a further construction phase in the upper area of Kipfen could be realised in the winter of 2024/2025. In the winter of 2025/2026, additional river engineering measures followed in the area of the Kalpetran bridge. The third and final phase is now planned for the winter of 2026/2027. This includes the section between the two already realised sub-projects. The aim is, in particular, to stabilise the bed of the channel in the erosion-prone section and to secure the slopes along the MGBahn route. As a solution, the formation of a rough-bed channel is envisaged. Large blocks and the existing sleepers embedded therein act as fixed points, while the gaps are filled with smaller blocks and gravelly material. This measure will also restore the currently impaired longitudinal connectivity. Access to the riverbed will be via the existing construction access north of the Kalpetran bridge. This will be temporarily extended into the riverbed and dismantled again after the completion of the construction work. To access the construction perimeter to the south, an additional temporary construction track will be created in the riverbed, which will also be completely dismantled after the completion of the construction.
