Germany – Museum services and preservation services of historical sites and buildings – IKAREUM Lilienthal Flight Museum BA3 Ausstellung

Hansestadt AnklamGermanyPublished on Aug 06, 2026
Deadline passed

Description

With the realisation of the IKAREUM – Lilienthal Flight Museum, the Hanseatic City of Anklam positions itself as a forward-looking, open, modern and consciously acting, sustainable city society. For this future orientation, historical awareness is of immense importance: Anklam is the birthplace of the Lilienthal brothers and thus the starting point of a story of global significance. At the end of the 19th century, Otto Lilienthal achieves the breakthrough in the realisation of human flight and paves the way for the construction of the first aeroplane and for global air traffic up to space travel. Like few other historical personalities, events and topics, the Lilienthals and flying offer the opportunity to tell great future-oriented human questions attractively: dream and trauma of technology; nature, technology and bionics; war as the father of all things; entrepreneur and welfare state; tradition and reform in society; science and sociology. The IKAREUM – Lilienthal Flight Museum will be opened in the newly renovated Nikolaikirche Anklam.
