Description

The listed arcade hall was built between 1950 and 1955 as part of the new buildings of the State Sports School. The complex consists of three components: - the sports hall, which is known as the arcade hall due to its typical arched segments - the gymnastics hall - the entrance building with the changing rooms. In 1977, the gymnastics hall was extended by a simple addition made of a steel hall construction. In 1980, a so-called pit for shooting practice was added to the gymnastics hall, taking into account the historic materials of reinforced concrete and sandstone facade. In 1989, a further hall made of steel construction was added to the reception building as a shooting hall. The hall serves the shooters as a practice room. Apart from the additions, the complex of the arcade hall is largely preserved in its original condition and is listed. The installations (changing rooms, wet cells, heating, ventilation) are dilapidated and must be urgently renewed. In a preliminary investigation, measures were identified to comply with the currently valid energy consumption for heating. In addition to the energy renovation of the outer shell of the building complex, the sanitary facilities are to be fundamentally renovated and adapted to current requirements. The outdoor facilities are not the subject of the planned measure. The exception is the access area with the stairs and ramps to the reception building. Here, in particular, concrete repairs to the stairs are necessary, provided this is feasible within an economic framework and after checking the static requirements. A monument protection permit must be obtained in any case. The shooting hall will not be considered in the planned measure. The renovation measure is funded by the Saarland state government. According to a first cost estimate, the expected renovation costs amount to 8 million EUR gross (cost groups 300 - 700).
