Description
The Universitätsklinikum Magdeburg A.ö.R. (UKMD), together with the Medical Faculty (FME) of the Otto-von-Guericke University (OvGU), forms the Universitätsmedizin Magdeburg (UMMD). This collaboration unites research, teaching (FME) and patient care (UKMD). With approximately 1,100 beds, the Universitätsmedizin is the largest hospital in the city of Magdeburg and the largest medical facility in northern Saxony-Anhalt. The hospital's physical structure is characterised in particular by decentralisation. The main campus, with a total area of approximately 300,000 m2, is located at Leipziger Straße 44. The University Clinic for Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine, as well as the inpatient department of the University Eye Clinic, are located at the external site at Gerhart-Hauptmann-Straße 35 (distance as the crow flies approximately 3 km). The main campus is characterised by a pavilion structure. Clinics, outpatient departments, laboratories, logistics, as well as research and teaching, are decentralised across the site. In total, there are 26 clinics and 19 institutes, as well as other independent or affiliated departments, distributed across both sites. In addition to research and teaching, the Universitätsmedizin Magdeburg offers the full range of multidisciplinary and highly specialised medical care. The entire Universitätsmedizin employs approximately 4,300 staff in research, teaching, patient care and administration. In addition, approximately 1,500 students are enrolled at the Medical Faculty and others in the Master's programme in Immunology. The current physical structure of the UKMD is characterised by a dislocated building structure, outdated technical infrastructure, long distances and outdated functional structures. There is an urgent need for action to prepare the UMMD for the future challenges of academic medicine and to solve pressing structural problems. The new Central Hospital is intended to bring together the previously dislocated clinics and functional units of the Universitätsklinikum in a centralised and functionally optimised structure, thus resolving an outdated situation. Taking into account the existing areas in buildings 60a and 60b, a large part of the clinical areas and a predominant proportion of the total usable areas of the UKMD will be located in the Central Hospital complex in the future. The new "New Campus Central Hospital" is the largest construction project in the state of Saxony-Anhalt and is crucial for the future viability of the site at Leipziger Straße. The planning and implementation is divided into several individual, interdependent sub-projects. Due to the complexity of the construction measures and the heterogeneous nature of the projects, this is necessary both in terms of content and organisation. The current budget approved for the overall measure is approximately 1 billion €, half of which is allocated to the new construction of the Central Hospital (phases 1 and 2). The focus of the building function should be on the harmony of medically up-to-date and future-proof processes, efficient operational structures and economical solutions. In addition, the following requirements must be taken into account: - It must be ensured that modern, safe, competitive and legally compliant healthcare is possible at the Universitätsmedizin Magdeburg site and that current safety risks are minimised. - The planning must be future-proof and innovative. - The highest possible level of automation should be taken into account. - The planning of the Central Hospital must be carried out in such a way that a highly flexible building is created. This flexibility should enable re-use by other medical specialties; if necessary, also as a result of a changed medical strategy. The most complex and medically important project is the new construction of the new central building for inpatient care, which, according to the specifications of the existing master plan, directly adjoins the existing buildings 60a and 60b and is intended to form a unit with them. The new central building is a highly complex project in planning, execution and operation, but also in the preparation of the procedure, with multifactor dependencies and a large number of users. It is also challenging to integrate the new building into the existing structures, taking into account existing, partly listed buildings. Due to the complex requirements for the new construction of the Central Hospital, the client, IPS GmbH, has decided to implement this part of the overall project as an Integrated Project Delivery (IPA). In total, the following IPA partners will be commissioned for planning and execution: Key trade 1: ELT execution – Technical equipment (electrical systems) Key trade 2: HLS execution – Technical equipment (excluding electrical systems) Key trade 3: Specialist planning services for technical equipment Key trade 4: Extended project planning services Key trade 5: MSR/GLT planning and execution Key trade 6: Medical technology planning and execution (cost group 473), turnkey with cost groups 300 and 400 Key trade 7: Specialist planning services for structural design Key trade 8: Execution of finishing work Key trade 9: Execution of extended rough construction/special foundation work
