Description

The city of Hameln is planning measures for its transport network as part of its "Green City Plan" (GCP) master plan, with improvements in sustainability and reduction of emissions. One part of this is the expansion of the cycle network. One of the steps for this is the relocation of the Weser cycle path on the right bank parallel to the Fischbecker Landstraße. Here, the existing section has been relocated to the Weseraue. This further crossing of the Weser by building a new footbridge and cycle path bridge plays a central role within the GCP master plan and is now to be implemented. The new bridge structure north of Hameln's city centre creates a link with the preferred route network and helps to make traffic more emission-free. With this new Weser crossing, journey time reductions of approximately 30 to 40% by bicycle can be achieved. Based on the feasibility study available, the "H" variant (connection of the bridge at the level of the Fontanestraße) has been determined as the preferred variant by the Hameln City Council. The determination of a load-bearing system, construction and materiality as well as the design of the future bridge was explicitly not made. However, the spatial location of the bridge is predetermined by the council decision. In addition to the bridge construction, a further component of the task is the planning development of the traffic connection of the bridge to the existing Weser cycle path and the Fontanestraße. Further construction costs than those shown in the aforementioned feasibility study are not available and have only been roughly estimated.
