Description
With the implementation of the AquaDuctus project, GASCADE is realising for AQD the first offshore hydrogen pipeline in the German North Sea and thereby making a significant contribution to the development of a powerful German and European hydrogen economy. AquaDuctus is designed as a large-scale import infrastructure on the gigawatt scale and is an integral part of the German hydrogen core network and a future European interconnected network in the North Sea region. The AquaDuctus pipeline connects national and European hydrogen production sites in the North Sea region with German and European consumption hubs. It thereby significantly contributes to the implementation of the National Hydrogen Strategy and the import strategy for hydrogen and hydrogen derivatives and at the same time supports the goals formulated at European level for the ramp-up of the hydrogen economy, as defined, among others, in the framework of the North Sea Summits in Esbjerg, Ostend, Berlin and Hamburg. The North Sea region is a strategically central region to transport large quantities of green hydrogen to Germany and Europe quickly, reliably and cost-effectively. The AquaDuctus project is divided into several sections. AquaDuctus Section 1 includes the connection of the German hydrogen wind farm site SEN 1 via a approximately 200 km long offshore pipeline. From the landing on the German coast in the district of Aurich, an onshore pipeline will connect to the German-Dutch interconnection point in Bunde/Oude Statenzijl. Section 1, which also includes the pipeline to be built from Sande to Bunde, has the status of a Project of Common Interest (PCI) and an Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) and is supported by the Federal Government and the State of Lower Saxony. AquaDuctus Section 2 includes the extension of the offshore pipeline by a further approximately 200 km to the border of the German exclusive economic zone in the North Sea. This will connect additional hydrogen quantities from offshore wind farms and other North Sea coastal states and further strengthen the diversification of hydrogen imports to Germany. The AquaDuctus Pipeline GmbH is seeking, within the framework of this tender, technically suitable companies for the support of the corporate communication for the AquaDuctus project, which has both an onshore and an offshore component, i.e. project parts on land or at sea.
