Denmark – Architectural, construction, engineering and inspection services – KU MT14 Virologisk Center - Totalrådgivning

The Building Agency is procuring a contract for total consultancy services regarding the establishment of a Virological Centre in an existing building for use by the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences (SUND) at the University of Copenhagen (KU). The Virological Centre is to be established as a laboratory facility for research into viruses belonging to risk groups 2 and 3 (BSL3) and work with genetically modified viruses classified as GMO class 2 (GMO2). The laboratory facility is to be executed as a containment facility that can be approved and classified at BSL3 and GMO2 levels. The facility must comply with Danish regulatory requirements and, in addition, relevant international manuals, standards, guidelines, and best practices in the field must be incorporated and used as a basis – both methodologically in the form of analyses, risk, and quality management, and in the form of solution choices, execution, and verification thereof. The specialized nature of the project therefore requires strong consulting competencies in general - and hereunder specialist competencies within biocontainment - with in-depth experience from similar constructions, as well as knowledge of the applicable Danish and international requirements for BSL3 laboratories. The project encompasses a gross area of approximately 520 m². The project is expected to be completed with early involvement of a supplier of barrier systems, while other works are expected to be procured in 1-2 major contracts with the Building Agency as the client and the University of Copenhagen as the user.
