Description

The Klinikum Saarbrücken gGmbH, with 603 plan beds, is the second-largest hospital site in the Saarland according to the current state bed plan. Under the sole ownership of the state capital Saarbrücken, the hospital, as a municipal large hospital, is one of the essential pillars for ensuring the healthcare provision of the state. This has been impressively demonstrated several times in light of the crises of recent years (e.g. Corona Level I focal point center, cross-border emergency care, admission of Ukrainian war casualties, etc.). In view of the upcoming challenges in the context of geopolitical crises, the state government plans to assign the Klinikum Saarbrücken, among other things, a central role in civil-military cooperation as a supra-regional trauma center. More than 54,000 emergency patients of all ages and severity grades treated in 2025 – with a continuing upward trend, the highest number of emergency service referrals nationwide, and the only remaining site of KV on-call practices (adults and children) in the state capital are not only a symbol of a concentration process in the care landscape, but also clearly underline the growing importance and care role of the hospital. This is supported by the interdisciplinary alignment in center structures, which has been consistently pursued for several years. Mention should be made here of, among others: - Perinatal Center Level 1 - Neurovascular Center - supra-regional trauma center (as well as approval for the most severely injured procedure of the BG) - Cardiac Arrest Center with attached Chest Pain Unit - Visceral Oncological Center (DKG) The hospital is also a teaching hospital of the medical faculty of the University of the Saarland. The planned construction project is to further strengthen the hospital site and expand the existing hospital building during ongoing operations. The detailed project description is attached as an annex to the tender documents.
