The Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and Environment plans to comprehensively renovate the street Unter den Linden from Pariser Platz to Schloßbrücke. As a preliminary measure, the central promenade from Wilhelmstraße to Universitätsstraße will be redesigned. As part of the measure, approximately 157 silver lindens of the variety 'Brabant' will be planted, approximately 80 ailing existing trees will be felled, 2 existing trees from 1936 will be preserved and approximately 21 existing trees will be transplanted to another location. The silver lindens were already selected and purchased in 2023 and will therefore be provided by the contracting authority. Since 2023, these have been cared for in the 2 delivery nurseries, a uniform quality has been produced as far as possible and prepared for the location. For the replanting, a planting trench approximately 2.3 m wide and 1.5 m deep will be created. The excavation will be removed and disposed of. The planting trench will be backfilled with structure-stable tree substrate and 30 cm of topsoil as well as a covering of mineral mulch. The 2.3 m wide planting strip will receive a diverse herbaceous planting. The planting strips will be divided into bed segments with paved passages and will receive a raised granite plinth with a superimposed border grating as an enclosure. An automatic irrigation system with drip hoses is to be installed. The existing benches will be replaced by new benches. These new benches have been developed for the location Unter den Linden and will be provided by the contracting authority. The existing light columns will be dismantled by Stromnetz Berlin, and after the substrate has been installed, they will be reinstalled by Stromnetz Berlin. Individual light columns will be moved to a new location in the process. The creation of the conduit trench and the laying of empty conduits remains within the scope of the construction work described here. After the completion of the completion care up to 1 year, a 3-year development care follows. The implementation is to be carried out in 5 sections, which are defined by the traffic junctions. The start of execution is planned for the IVth quarter of 2026 at the latest, however, after the award of the contract. The completion of the construction work, including completion care, is planned for mid-2029. This is followed by the development care until mid-2032. To limit the restrictions for the public in time, completed sections will be made available for public use again. Care periods can therefore vary according to the staging of completion.
