Denmark – Construction work – HVU - Hvidovre Udslusningsfængsel, Lysholmgård - nedrivning, nybyggeri og totalrenovering

The project involves the demolition and new construction of 3 wings and the complete renovation of 1 main building due to detected, extensive dry rot in exterior walls, floors, and roof structures. The building totals approximately 1,940 m² (gross m²). The finished remand prison will have a capacity of 30 detainees and, in addition to residential sections with rooms and living areas with occupational and leisure facilities, will accommodate a staff section with administrative facilities.

Danmarks Fængsler wishes to rebuild Hvidovre Remand Prison "Lysholmgård" with the aim of creating a new remand prison that meets the requirements of Danmarks Fængsler, and at the same time can ensure modern and contemporary frameworks around the detainees and staff. Some of the remand places are arranged with accessibility measures to accommodate detainees with disabilities. The expansion of the existing Hvidovre Remand Prison, Lysholmgård, to a total capacity of 30 places, is part of the initiative to establish four new remand prisons, as stated in the Agreement on the Economy of the Criminal Justice System 2022-2025. The aim is to create the framework for more detainees, in the final stages of their sentence, to have the opportunity for a transition to a life without crime, under supervision and with support from the staff of Danmarks Fængsler.
