Descripción

Integración de la Cocina Electrónica y la Movilidad Eléctrica en el Sistema Eléctrico de Mozambique

The project aims to integrate e-cooking and e-mobility into Mozambique’s electricity system, with a focus on the following objectives:

1. **Increase the share of renewable energy** in the electricity mix by promoting the use of electric cooking and electric vehicles (EVs) to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels.

2. **Reduce greenhouse gas emissions** by decreasing the use of charcoal and other biomass for cooking, as well as by reducing emissions from conventional vehicles.

3. **Improve air quality** in urban and peri-urban areas by reducing particulate matter and other pollutants from traditional cooking methods and conventional vehicles.

4. **Enhance energy security and access** by promoting the use of electric cooking and EVs, which can help stabilize the electricity grid and increase the demand for electricity.

5. **Promote economic development** by creating jobs in the e-cooking and e-mobility sectors, as well as by reducing healthcare costs associated with air pollution.

The project will be implemented in several phases, including:

- **Phase 1: Assessment and Planning (6 months)**

- Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current electricity system, cooking practices, and transportation sector in Mozambique.

- Develop a detailed implementation plan, including timelines, milestones, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

- **Phase 2: Pilot Projects (12 months)**

- Implement pilot projects in selected urban and peri-urban areas to demonstrate the feasibility and benefits of e-cooking and e-mobility.

- Monitor and evaluate the pilot projects to gather data and lessons learned.

- **Phase 3: Scaling Up (18 months)**

- Based on the results of the pilot projects, scale up the implementation of e-cooking and e-mobility across the country.

- Develop and implement policies and regulations to support the integration of e-cooking and e-mobility into the electricity system.

- **Phase 4: Monitoring and Evaluation (Ongoing)**

- Continuously monitor and evaluate the project’s progress and impact.

- Conduct regular assessments to identify areas for improvement and make necessary adjustments.

The project will be funded through a combination of grants, loans, and private sector investments. The total budget for the project is EUR 10 000 000.

The expected outcomes of the project include:

- A 20% increase in the share of renewable energy in the electricity mix.

- A 30% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from the cooking and transportation sectors.

- Improved air quality in urban and peri-urban areas.

- Increased energy security and access.

- Creation of 500 new jobs in the e-cooking and e-mobility sectors.

- A reduction in healthcare costs associated with air pollution.

The project will be implemented by a consortium led by the **Agência Nacional de Energia de Moçambique (ANER)** in partnership with the **Ministério da Energia e Recursos Minerais (MIREME)**, the **Ministério dos Transportes e Comunicações (MTC)**, and other relevant stakeholders.
