Section B. Green infrastructure Holešov – urban parks (vegetation works) Comprehensive enhancement of public space and proposal for overall regeneration of the space with the aim of restoring and strengthening the functionality of green infrastructure in public space and enhancing the ecosystem services of urban greenery, especially to increase the potential of the settlement to adapt to climate change, such as water retention, cooling of its surroundings, mitigation of temperature extremes – especially water retention in the area with the transformation of impermeable surfaces into permeable ones. American Park In the locality, it is necessary to carry out the felling of operationally dangerous trees and further trees for the purpose of thinning dense thickets and especially freeing more valuable trees and especially reducing stand-unfavourable invasive acacias. For the release for new planting, it is also essential to fell a series of non-conceptually planted shrubs and self-seeded plants. See the detailed dendrological survey in the tabular part. - A total of 87 trees and 2 493 shrubs and self-seeded plants will be felled, almost a third of which are invasive acacias. - The replacement planting will include 46 trees, which will form the framework of stands in the so far non-functioning parts of the park, the shrub layer will be significantly strengthened with the planting of 6 540 shrubs and roses. - The herbaceous layer will be represented by 2400 m2 of species-rich meadow mixtures. As part of the care of trees, formative cuts will be made on young plantations, while health and safety cuts, reduction cuts for the purpose of stabilization, towards the obstacle and adjustment of the passage profile, further circumferential reduction and for senescent trees also a nature-like reduction of the crown. On several trees, a safety restraint will be installed, further inspection of the safety restraint on oaks. On tree no. 310 Abies nordmaniana, it is necessary to carry out a machine tensile test. As part of the planting, the complete renewal of vegetation elements in the park is proposed with the aim of renewing the entire composition and creating individual compositional units. The planting of core trees, especially the expansion of the species composition of trees, will be carried out, there will be a significant strengthening of the shrub layer in the form of native and ornamental species and especially the establishment of the missing herbaceous layer in the form of perennial beds, rose beds and species-rich meadow grasses. Thus, there will be a significant increase in species diversity and strengthening of the biological value of the area.
