Germany – Secondary school construction work – Totalunternehmer Gesamtschule Rösrath

At the Freiherr-vom-Stein school centre in Rösrath, significant changes have occurred in recent years, both in terms of school organisation and construction. The former Hauptschule (G2) was converted into a Gesamtschule, and the existing Realschulgebäude (G3) was assigned to the Gesamtschule. The construction of the new connecting building (G4) with an integrated canteen has physically linked the Gymnasium (G1) and the Gesamtschule. Due to steadily increasing student numbers, the city council of Rösrath has decided to establish a five-stream Gesamtschule. This results in an increased demand for teaching and functional space. For the Gymnasium, this demand will be met by the new building (G5) currently under construction, which is scheduled for completion by the 2026 school year. Despite the physical integration of the former Hauptschule and Realschule, the space requirements of a five-stream Gesamtschule cannot currently be fully met. The city of Rösrath therefore intends to cover the additional space requirement of the Gesamtschule through a new building (G6) in the short term. The construction expansion is to be located west of the existing school building. The aim is to achieve early completion to ensure school operations from the 2028/2029 school year.
