At the educational location of Eslohe, there is the central competence centre for the roofing trade in Westphalia. The location combines vocational training, accommodation for trainees, catering services, and further training and development measures in a contiguous campus. The existing building infrastructure dates predominantly from 1968 and 1985. The existing buildings no longer meet today's requirements for a modern educational and residential facility, neither in terms of their functional structure nor in terms of their structural, energy, and usage-specific quality. In particular, the existing mixed use of teaching, administration, accommodation, and catering within the existing buildings leads to organisational restrictions and makes it difficult to implement the educational mandate in a contemporary way. The accommodation situation in the residential area also no longer meets current requirements. The predominantly existing multi-bed rooms with shared sanitary facilities offer only limited living and accommodation quality. In addition, there are deficiencies in the leisure, living, and communication areas for the trainees. As part of a feasibility study, various development options for the location were examined. Based on the results, the contracting authority has decided to implement a replacement new-build concept. This will ensure that the functional, organisational, pedagogical, and energy requirements are met in the long term, and at the same time, the ongoing school and residential operation will be ensured during the implementation.
