Ruhrbahn GmbH (hereinafter Ruhrbahn or Contracting Authority) was established in 2017 through the merger of two transport companies, Essener Verkehrs-AG (EVAG) and Mülheimer Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH (MVG). Since then, it has provided an attractive, efficient, and environmentally friendly public transport service, thereby enhancing the quality of life in Essen and Mülheim an der Ruhr. As the largest transport company in the Ruhr area, it ensures the mobility of 140 million passengers per year with approximately 2,500 employees. With three underground lines, eleven tram lines, 54 bus lines, and 22 NE lines, Ruhrbahn offers a customer-oriented, technically advanced, and climate-friendly public transport service. The subject of the procurement is the introduction of a comprehensive solution for an ID-based ticketing system (IDbT).
