Belgium – Road construction works – Thema Ruimte - dienst Openbare Werken. Heraanleg Grote Markt: Rioleringswerken met aansluitend wegenwerken en inrichting

The works include the redevelopment of the Grote Markt in Aalst. A separate sewerage system will be installed and subsequently the square will be redeveloped with new paving in natural stone. The redevelopment also includes new trees. The location of the 17 new trees with open crowns will be carefully chosen and discussed with emergency services so that access for emergency services, as well as the organisation of events and the Saturday market, are coordinated. As part of the redevelopment of the square, a Beoveld will be provided with underground boreholes for the natural heating of the belfry and the old town hall. The works include, among others: - Preparatory demolition and removal works of existing road surfacing, footpaths, of local and linear elements and existing sewerage; - Earthworks necessary for the execution of the works according to the indication on longitudinal and cross-profiles; - Installation of substructures and foundations (incl. with infiltration chimneys and water-buffering foundation); - Installation of a separate sewerage system (DWA and RWA); - Making of house and street connections; - Installation of the square and adjacent streets in natural stone; - Installation of kerb-stone-water gutters; - Installation of tree pits; - Installation Beoveld for heating and passive cooling of the belfry and old town hall; - Placement of street furniture (benches, sleeves for Christmas trees/flagpoles, tree guards, tree mirrors, lighting columns); - Relocation of statue Dirk Martens.
