The Hauptmann-Haus, as well as the other buildings, are in permanent use, resulting in a significant backlog of renovation work (with the exception of the Literaturpavillon). There is also a need for spatial adaptation in the areas of residential use and administration. In addition to the comprehensive renovation of the building envelope and internal structure, the current crawl space is to be expanded into a full basement. In this context, the previously inadequate foundation of the building will also be upgraded. The building services must be completely renewed. In general, the museum areas of the building interior must be renovated with the utmost care and using minimally invasive methods to avoid destroying valuable original surfaces. The materials removed during the renovation of the exterior envelope are to be reused (roof tiles, base bricks, windows, etc.).
