Germany – Government services – Erfahrungsaustausch zu Vergrämungsmaßnahmen (Los 1) und Planung von koordinierten Vergrämungsabschüssen (Los 2) für das Interreg-Projekt "Fischartenschutz und Kormoranmanagement am Bodensee"

Summary of the Interreg project "Fish species protection and cormorant management in Lake Constance": Through international measures coordinated with all Lake Constance riparian states, the protection of endangered fish species in the Lake Constance region is to be strengthened. Knowledge about endangered fish species in the region will be compiled within the framework of the project and, on this basis, measures to improve their protection will be developed. The measures include both ecological enhancements to fish habitats and technical protection measures against cormorant predation. Data will be recorded in a database and model solutions for water engineering will be developed. To reduce the predation pressure by cormorants on endangered fish species, foundations will be developed which aim at an international strategy for cormorant management. These include the use of cutting-edge drone technology for cormorant breeding management. The suitability and permitability of regional measures for cormorant management and their cross-border effects will be clarified.
