The attacks on the Twin Towers on 11 September 2001 marked a global turning point in thinking about national security. In the Netherlands, this also led to renewed attention to the protection of vital infrastructure: the essential services such as gas, drinking water, electricity, and communication on which society depends daily. For WML, as part of the drinking water sector, this has resulted in improving the physical security of our drinking water production locations through a project-based approach. In recent years, work has begun to strengthen the security of the 57 production locations through organisational, construction, and electronic measures (OBE). Through a first proof of concept, 14 locations have already been equipped with this improved physical security. With this tender, we want to equip the next 9 locations (cluster 2) with the renewed physical security. These locations include continuously operating drinking water production installations and consist of a mix of larger and smaller installations, such as pumping stations with associated well fields and pressure-boosting installations. The locations are within a radius of approximately 10 km, both in rural areas and in urban environments.
