The General-Oberst-Beck Kaserne site covers approximately 31 hectares and is located on a hill in the south of Sonthofen. The barracks themselves are currently being refurbished and consist of both historic buildings and new constructions used for military purposes. Part of the buildings are still under renovation, while the other part is already in use, which is why access to the site is monitored for security reasons. Due to roof leaks, renovation work is required on the roof structure of the historic buildings 5+8 of the property. The pitched roofs are covered with pantile and have a wooden supporting structure. Due to the planned use of roof areas as part of the renovation, building physics, fire protection and static requirements will need to be taken into account in the planning. The existing sheathing will remain. The planning of the further roof construction, taking into account the requirements set, is the core of the task.
