The Statutes of the University of Valladolid, in article 214.1, establish that “it is the responsibility of the entire university community to preserve and properly use the University's assets, and it is the responsibility of the Rector and the other governing bodies to protect and defend them legally”. In compliance with this obligation, the contracting authority considers it necessary to formalize the insurance policies required to guarantee material damage, destruction or deterioration that the University's assets (real estate, furniture and equipment) may suffer. Among the assets used by the UVa are vehicles, which have their own specific regime for covering possible damages and liabilities that may arise from their use, so it is necessary to contract a specific insurance for them in order to comply with the legal obligation to have them insured. It is also considered necessary to cover the possible accidents that students may suffer while doing academic internships, students who do their final degree or master's thesis at centers outside the University of Valladolid under collaboration agreements, students who study for own-degree titles and scholarship holders and collaborators, in the event of a lack of protection in these activities.
