Description

The municipality of Essen (Oldb.) plans to expand and renovate Bevern Primary School. The educational concept of Bevern Primary School is focused on open, child-friendly, and community-oriented learning. As part of a "Phase 0," the future development of Bevern Primary School was discussed. This working group included, in addition to the school management, the parent representative, the administration, and the "Sicht.weise" office, also representatives from politics. Together, they developed pedagogical, spatial, and functional requirements that need to be considered in the planning. The existing school building is designed as a traditional corridor school with long corridors and separate classrooms. However, the existing structure is to be converted into an open learning landscape with flexible room structures, with the goals of enabling multiple uses, avoiding vacancies, and efficiently connecting spaces for teaching, specialist teaching, all-day provision, and administration. As a structural solution, the municipality (Oldb.) can envisage a compact extension variant that harmoniously adjoins the existing structure. The extension will create the missing spaces for all-day provision, administration, and community areas. The planning must be carried out taking into account possible funding in school construction. If funding is received, the funding conditions must be taken into account in the construction. The total costs (KG 200-700) are estimated at approximately 3.75 million euros gross, according to an initial cost estimate.
