Germany – Architectural services for outdoor areas – Mainufergestaltung Marktheidenfeld – Bauabschnitt B3 - Verhandlungsverfahren mit Teilnahmewettbewerb zur Auftragsvergabe von Leistungen der Freianlagenplanung

The project for the construction section B3 of the Mainufergestaltung Marktheidenfeld concerns the approximately 730 m long and 30 m wide area of the Main riverbank in front of the old town of Marktheidenfeld. The planning area of approximately 16,150 m2 extends orientatively to the north to the Festplatz Martinswiese, at the Alte Mainbrücke and to the south to the slipways at the mouth of the Erlenbach. The area is part of the urban development funding area. The city of Marktheidenfeld intends, within the framework of urban development funding, to redesign the Main riverbank with the takeover and integration of a new flood protection concept for the old town, which is planned by the higher authorities. The planning area comprises the outer area between the old town of Marktheidenfeld and the Main from the old Main bridge in the north to the slipway in the south. The size of the planning area is approximately 16,150 m2. The foreland of the city facing the Main is to be upgraded by a redesign and existing qualities are to be taken up and integrated in terms of design. The following topics should be addressed in the redesign of the attractive open space: - Townscape-compatible integration into the ensemble monument Mainkai Marktheidenfeld - Upgrading and improving the quality of stay or experience (e.g. small squares on the Main riverbank, erection of a sculpture, Mainkai car park) - Bicycle parking, seating, native and site-appropriate supplementation of the planting, conversion of paved areas into green spaces) - Separation of cycle paths and footpaths - Possible integration of flood protection measures - Consideration of the market operation of the Laurenzi-Messe - Hints on the location of a public WC facility - If possible, consideration of the framework conditions set out in the justification of the joint application of the CSU and proMAR city council factions (resolution of the city council of 25.05.2023) and the resolution of 12.09.2024. Extensive coordination with the Wasserstraßenschifffahrtsamt, the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments, the district office, the Lower Nature Conservation Authority and other authorities and bodies with public interests must be assumed in the planning. With a city council resolution in July 2023, the office Harald Neu Architekten & Stadtplaner BDA, Darmstadt, was commissioned for the planning of the Mainufergestaltung in the construction section B3 - Alte Mainbrücke with the performance phases 1 and 2 according to § 39ff HOAI for the Mainufergestaltung Marktheidenfeld. In the course of the preliminary planning LP 2, suggestions from the city council were taken into account and the preliminary design was coordinated in January 2025 with the Water Management Office, the Lower Nature Conservation Authority, the Main-Spessart District Office and the Government of Lower Franconia. With the cost estimate in LP 2, it became apparent that a VgV procedure must be tendered for further performance phases. In spring 2025, the performance phases 1 and 2 including the cost estimate were completed and presented to the city council of Marktheidenfeld in the meeting on 10 July 2025. The city council has decided to continue the planning of the construction section as an overall construction measure and to carry out a VgV procedure for the award of the performance phases 3 to 9. In this context, the flood protection of the old town of Marktheidenfeld is to be taken into account and possibilities for realisation are to be shown. The preliminary design with cost estimate of the office Harald Neu Architekten & Stadtplaner BDA, Darmstadt, will be made available to the selected bidders in the second stage of the tendering procedure.
